GE HealthCare is a global leader in anesthesia technology, known for products like the Carestation family of anesthesia delivery systems. USAP is a physician-led anesthesia practice that provides care at more than 700 hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers across 10 states and the District of Columbia.

Mo Azam, MD, Head of Innovation at USAP, said, “Anesthesiology is always evolving to improve patient safety and outcomes. Demand for anesthesia services has grown faster than the supply of providers, creating pressure on clinicians and higher costs for hospitals. Partnerships between medical teams and industry are essential to develop digital tools that can support clinicians and expand access to care.”

Advances in technology, including systems that enhance clinical monitoring and decision-making, could allow anesthesia providers to deliver safer care more efficiently. Artificial intelligence and machine learning tools have the potential to assist clinicians and expand operational capacity, but these tools need to be carefully developed in collaboration with experienced medical professionals to ensure they meet real-world needs. This partnership combines GE HealthCare’s global expertise in anesthesia technology, AI, product development, manufacturing, and distribution with USAP’s extensive experience in anesthesia quality management, data collection, and clinical operations.

John Beard, MD, Anesthesiologist and Chief Medical Officer for Patient Care Solutions at GE HealthCare, said, “The goal is to equip anesthesia professionals with advanced tools that let them provide care effectively and reduce their workload. By working closely with USAP, we aim to create digital solutions that support clinicians and help hospitals manage the complexities of modern anesthesia care.”
