Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd (AHEL) has launched Apollo Athenaa, Asia’s first specialized cancer center exclusively for women, situated in Defence Colony, New Delhi. The center was officially opened by the Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, along with other notable figures including Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Founder-Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group; Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, Member of Parliament from New Delhi; Shri Neeraj Basoya, Member of the Legislative Assembly; Ms. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson of AHEL; and Mr. Harshad Reddy, Director of Group Oncology at AHEL.

At the event, Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta highlighted the significance of providing women-focused cancer care, calling it a crucial and delicate matter. She expressed her satisfaction with the progress made in empowering women through healthcare and praised Apollo Athenaa as a remarkable institution that promises to offer every woman dignity, safety, and privacy during her treatment.

According to recent data from the Indian Council of Medical Research’s National Cancer Registry Programme, more women than men are now being diagnosed with cancer in India, with breast and cervical cancers being the most common. This rising trend underscores the need for dedicated healthcare services for women.
