Tigerlily Foundation proudly announces the launch of the RACE Alliance, short for Rallying Around Community and Equity Alliance. This bold new initiative is designed to strengthen breast cancer education, care, and access by placing communities and patients at the center of solutions. The RACE Alliance focuses on expanding knowledge and action through approaches shaped and led by those most affected, ensuring that education, care pathways, and research reflect real lived experiences.

The RACE Alliance brings together a wide range of partners including community leaders, breast cancer oncologists, patient advocates, disease focused organizations, philanthropy, biopharma, academic researchers, and policy leaders. These stakeholders will work side by side to develop practical recommendations and strategies that can be implemented across systems. The mission of the Alliance is to unite the wisdom and voices of breast cancer survivors from across the United States to advance equitable access to care and drive lasting change. This work is rooted in the belief that communities must lead the way in shaping solutions that affect their health.

Tigerlily Foundation’s RACE Alliance is a nationwide coalition that will include community leaders from all 50 states. These leaders are not symbolic participants. They are the driving force behind every aspect of the Alliance’s work. Their lived experiences will guide priorities, decisions, and actions, with a strong focus on women of color and women from marginalized and underrepresented communities who face the greatest barriers to timely diagnosis, education, treatment, and participation in research. By centering these perspectives, the Alliance aims to close persistent gaps in breast cancer care and innovation through an empowerment driven action plan led by the community and designed for adoption across healthcare systems, research, and clinical trial development. While many efforts address cancer care today, the voices of communities are too often missing from leadership. The RACE Alliance is committed to changing that reality with clear goals and actions beginning in 2026 and continuing beyond.

At a glance, Tigerlily Foundation has nearly two decades of experience supporting women with breast cancer through survivor led programs that improve outcomes and transform systems. As the organization approaches its 20th anniversary, Tigerlily has grown into a women’s health and oncology organization that applies patient driven models proven in breast cancer to other areas of care. The RACE Alliance builds on this legacy by uniting diverse perspectives through a multi stakeholder approach to reduce and ultimately eliminate disparities in breast cancer diagnosis, care, and research. The Foundation remains dedicated to creating safe and empowering spaces for marginalized women and translating that empowerment into systemic change.

Maimah S. Karmo, President and CEO of Tigerlily Foundation, shared that this moment calls for courage, compassion, and action. She emphasized that care must recognize each woman as a whole person whose voice matters and whose dignity must be respected. According to Karmo, meaningful change grows from communities that demand equity rather than waiting for solutions imposed from above. She expressed deep confidence that when people come together with purpose and resolve, they can build a healthcare system that supports wellness, honors resilience, and ensures no woman is overlooked.

To advance this work, Tigerlily Foundation will host three virtual stakeholder convenings in collaboration with the RACE Alliance Steering Committee, health system partners, and Tigerlily ANGEL Advocates. Steering Committee members are carefully selected experts and community leaders who will help elevate trusted voices and turn shared insight into collective action. These convenings will focus on equipping communities with the tools, training, and influence needed to inform policy, strengthen care delivery, and achieve sustainable health equity across the breast cancer and women’s health continuum.
