By combining Blue-Zone’s innovative Phoenix Deltasorb technology with Piramal’s global manufacturing and distribution capabilities, the collaboration aims to help healthcare providers reduce the environmental impact of volatile anesthetics while ensuring these essential medicines remain available for patient care worldwide.

Blue-Zone is currently seeking regulatory approval in Europe for its Phoenix Deltasorb residual anesthetic gas capture system. In the meantime, the technology will be offered to Piramal Critical Care’s European customers, beginning in France and Germany. Blue-Zone will manage all aspects of the supply and operation of its systems within healthcare facilities, while Piramal will process the recovered gases to produce Sevoflurane USP for human use at its Canadian facilities. The partners expect the program to expand to additional regions in the near future, increasing both the capture and recycling of residual anesthetic gases and the production of Sevoflurane from these recovered materials.
