Acute Behavioral Health, a behavioral health provider for young people that provides innovative evidence-based care, announced its completed acquisition of Oakwood Treatment Center in Kinston, N.C. Oakwood, a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility, had previously been part of the Nova Behavioral Health network of treatment programs for young people and their families, will continue to serve the community under a new name and ownership.

Oakwood provides out-of-home treatment services for boys and girls ages 12-17 years old who are assessed as needing more intensive services and referred by mental health and social service providers. Throughout the course of treatment, boys and girls live in separate quarters and are placed in a highly supervised living environment. Treatment is overseen by a psychiatrist, intensive therapy services are provided by licensed clinicians, 24/7 nursing is provided, and all young people are engaged in school grade-level appropriate programming.
