MultiCare Health System, based in Tacoma, Washington, has selected Ambience Healthcare to deploy its AI platform across the organization for clinical documentation, coding, and workflow optimization. The decision follows one of the most thorough evaluations of ambient AI technology in healthcare, aiming to improve clinician well-being, patient experience, and the quality of documentation throughout MultiCare’s network.

Throughout 2025, MultiCare conducted a head-to-head assessment involving over 550 clinicians across more than 20 specialties. The evaluation compared three leading ambient AI solutions using a standardized framework that measured patient experience, clinician satisfaction, reduction of administrative burden, and financial sustainability. Ambience Healthcare emerged as the top-performing platform, demonstrating superior usability, clinical impact, and provider approval.

“We were not looking for hype. We wanted evidence that the technology could genuinely support our physicians, advanced practice providers, and patients,” said Todd Czartoski, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive at MultiCare. “Ambience stood out in the evaluation and quickly became the preferred choice among our clinicians. When your frontline staff overwhelmingly favors a solution because it improves care and eases their work, that is where the investment belongs.”

Ambience achieved a Net Promoter Score 63 points higher than its nearest competitor, reflecting strong clinician confidence and enthusiasm. Key outcomes from the evaluation included a 17 percent increase in patient face time, a 33 percent reduction in clinical documentation time, a 38 percent decrease in after-hours documentation, a 5 percent rise in work relative value units across participants, and an 11 percent increase in documented HCCs per encounter. Adoption rates were also high, with 92 percent of clinicians using Ambience and 81 percent of patient visits across specialties leveraging the platform.

“This project highlights the power of MultiCare’s collaboration between clinical and IT leadership, focusing on early engagement and scaling solutions that work,” said Scott Waters, Chief Information Officer at MultiCare. “Ambience delivered measurable results and noticeably improved provider satisfaction. When clinicians thrive, patients benefit directly.”

Over the next three months, MultiCare plans to expand Ambience Healthcare’s AI platform to 1,500 clinicians across all specialties and care settings, incorporating ongoing feedback from frontline providers to ensure a smooth and effective rollout.
