New link between NDNQI® and UKG Pro Workforce Management™ helps health systems support nurse well-being and make smarter staffing decisions

Press Ganey, the leader in experience measurement, analytics, and strategic advisory services for health systems and health plans, introduced a new technology partnership with UKG, a leading provider of HR, payroll, and workforce management solutions. This integration connects UKG Pro Workforce Management™ with Press Ganey’s National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators® (NDNQI®), helping hospitals and health systems streamline staffing decisions with real-time data to support nurse well-being and patient safety.

With this collaboration, health systems that use both Press Ganey and the UKG Pro Workforce Management suite can automate key steps in submitting data to NDNQI, the nation’s largest source for benchmarking nursing performance and identifying opportunities to improve patient care. The integration pulls staffing and workforce data directly from UKG into the NDNQI platform, reducing manual data entry, improving accuracy, and freeing up nurse leaders to focus on improvement initiatives instead of administrative tasks.

One large not-for-profit healthcare system—spanning over two dozen acute care hospitals across multiple states—recently implemented this integration, as an NDNQI early adopter, to automate their NDNQI submissions and saved one to two weeks of manual work each quarter by automatically consolidating workforce data across all units and departments.

As staffing pressures and quality expectations continue to rise, this integration helps healthcare systems stay responsive, ensuring their nursing teams are supported with the data, time, and tools to drive safer care.

“Supporting a safe, high-performing healthcare workforce starts with giving leaders the right data at the right time,” said Jeff Doucette, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, FAAN, Chief Nursing Officer at Press Ganey. “By connecting workforce data from UKG directly into our NDNQI platform, this integration helps automate manual processes and empowers nursing teams to focus more on quality improvement and exceptional care.”

Healthcare leaders will benefit from:

  • Automated data transfers that reduce manual entry and errors
  • Direct data integration to simplify NDNQI submissions and support quality improvement
  • More timely insights to support Magnet designation and other performance goals
  • Greater alignment between workforce operations and clinical improvement efforts.

“The healthcare industry, with nursing in particular, is seeing increased shortages and high levels of burnout, and at UKG, we want to ensure customers have the tools and technology they need to deliver the best care,” said Nanne Finis, RN, MS, Chief Nurse Executive at UKG. “Solutions that help healthcare organizations streamline how they manage data, improve outcomes, and support their workforce are top of mind for us. Joining forces with organizations like Press Ganey help us accomplish these goals by elevating the workplace experience and meeting the needs of nurses, so they can take care of patients.”
