CHCP names AJ Thomas to lead healthcare systems group focused on customized, cost-effective workforce development programs

AJ Thomas has been appointed to lead the group as Chief Business Development Officer.

This move reflects CHCP’s deep and ongoing commitment to addressing one of the most pressing challenges in U.S. healthcare: the persistent shortage of skilled frontline workers. For years, CHCP has partnered with health systems to deliver flexible, employer-aligned training programs that meet real-time workforce needs. The launch of the Intelligent Workforce Solutions group consolidates and formalizes this work into a dedicated division—designed to scale and strengthen these efforts. The group will provide customized, scalable upskilling pathways for critical patient-facing roles—beginning with CHCP’s signature Medical Assistant (MA) and Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT) programs, while retaining the flexibility to co-develop additional programs based on each partner’s specific workforce priorities.
“CHCP is a key partner in our workforce development, aligning and tailoring content, delivery and support to our needs,” said Hillary Miller, AVP of Training and Development in the Clinical Services Group, HCA. “Through this partnership, we’re meaningfully addressing key skills to support and strengthen our clinical workforce now and in the future.”

AJ Thomas joins CHCP with more than a decade of leadership experience in healthcare workforce development, most recently serving as SVP of Client Success at SnapCare. Throughout his career, AJ has built and scaled programs that drive talent retention, workforce readiness, and operational efficiency across some of the nation’s largest healthcare organizations. “CHCP’s legacy is built on training the healthcare workforce of tomorrow. With Intelligent Workforce Solutions, we are scaling that mission to meet health systems where they are—with the programs, support, and flexibility they need,” said Jon Patterson, President of CHCP, Digital Services, Online & B2B Strategic Partnerships. “AJ brings the vision and the experience to deepen our partnerships and expand our impact.”
“We’ve seen the difference workforce partnerships can make—not just for employers, but for the workers and patients they serve,” said AJ Thomas, Chief Business Development Officer at CHCP. “I’m honored to lead this next chapter of CHCP’s evolution and to work hand-in-hand with health systems to build internal pipelines of skilled talent.”
CHCP’s employer-partnered programs combine online, on-demand learning with hands-on clinical training at employer sites. With wraparound student supports and career pathway design, the programs reduce vacancy costs and improve patient throughput. “At CHCP, we believe in building workforce solutions that work for both people and systems,” said Eric Bing, Chancellor and CEO of CHCP. “AJ is the right leader to help us do just that—and to scale what’s working in Texas to health systems across the country.”
