Honeywell has announced the launch of a new AI-powered retail solution created in partnership with Google Cloud and 66degrees. The platform uses Google Gemini and Google Cloud Vertex AI to enhance how customers shop inside physical stores. Designed for retailers across global markets, the solution helps shoppers quickly find products, compare alternatives, and receive suggestions when items are unavailable, making store visits smoother and more convenient.

The new Smart Shopping Platform focuses on removing common frustrations faced by in-store shoppers. Customers often waste time searching for a final grocery item or a specific component needed for a repair. David Barker, President of Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services, explained that the platform was built to solve these everyday challenges. In his view, the solution improves the customer experience while also giving retailers a ready-to-use AI system that does not require them to build or manage their own AI teams.

Built as a cloud-based offering, the Smart Shopping Platform connects a retailer’s digital data directly with the physical store environment. It runs on Honeywell Mobility Edge hardware and software and is powered by Google Cloud AI technologies. The result is a guided shopping experience that delivers personalized directions, live product details, and intelligent recommendations similar to what customers expect from online shopping.

Jose Gomes, Vice President of Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods at Google Cloud, shared that the collaboration transforms Honeywell devices into intelligent tools for both shoppers and store employees. He noted that combining AI with purpose-built hardware helps retailers improve daily operations while guiding customers through an easier and more enjoyable shopping journey. According to him, this approach benefits retailers by increasing basket value and strengthening customer loyalty at the same time.

When customers use the platform on Honeywell Android devices such as the CS32 Personal Shopper, they can connect their loyalty accounts to receive tailored product suggestions. These recommendations are based on past purchases, personal preferences, related products, and active promotions. The platform also provides in-store navigation to guide shoppers directly to the items on their list. If a product is out of stock, the system automatically recommends suitable alternatives, delivering an experience similar to online retail.

Store associates also gain powerful support from the platform. Employees using devices like the Honeywell CT70 can access real-time insights to assist customers with accurate and personalized guidance. This allows staff members to quickly answer questions, locate items that have moved within the store, and act as knowledgeable advisors. Such devices are already widely used by retail associates across grocery chains, big box retailers, specialty stores, and department stores.

The launch builds on the long-standing collaboration between Honeywell and Google Cloud, aimed at advancing intelligent computing solutions across industries. The Smart Shopping Platform is scheduled to become available to customers starting February 2026.
