GammaTile therapy is a form of radiation treatment applied during surgery to remove brain tumors. The technique delivers focused radiation to the tumor area at the time of surgery, when cancer cells are at their weakest. Unlike traditional methods that require a delay before starting radiation, GammaTile allows treatment to begin immediately. This approach reduces the chance of tumor regrowth and improves patient outcomes.
The recognition of Rush University Medical Center as a GammaTile Center of Excellence reflects the value of adopting innovative approaches in brain tumor care. It also shows how healthcare institutions can raise the bar for treatment by embracing advanced solutions like GammaTile that provide more effective care options close to the time of surgery.
