Gold Coast Health Plan has officially announced the appointment of Suma Simcoe as its new Chief Operating Officer, starting on October 15. In this role, Simcoe will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the organization and helping to develop and implement strategic plans aimed at improving care delivery and making operations more efficient throughout Ventura County.

Dr. Felix Nuñez, the CEO of Gold Coast Health Plan, said that Simcoe has a lot of experience in healthcare operations and managed care, along with a track record of successfully handling difficult situations and achieving positive results. He mentioned that her leadership will help strengthen the organization’s structure and support its goal of providing high-quality, member-centered care.

Simcoe has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare operations and system implementation. She has worked in senior positions at L.A. Care Health Plan and Molina Healthcare, where she managed large-scale operations across Medicaid, Medicare, and Exchange programs. Her experience includes all areas of managed care operations such as enrollment, claims processing, provider relations, handling grievances and appeals, ensuring payment accuracy, credentialing, and managing vendors.

In her previous roles, Simcoe led major improvements that increased automation, improved the quality of care, and introduced alternative ways of paying for care. Most recently, as deputy COO at L.A. Care Health Plan, she was in charge of strategic planning, performance monitoring, and coordinating efforts across departments to improve efficiency and accountability throughout the organization.

Simcoe is known for achieving measurable results and for creating work environments that focus on continuous improvement and teamwork. She is recognized for translating strategic goals into practical actions that work well across different teams. Simcoe expressed her excitement about joining Gold Coast Health Plan and is looking forward to helping the organization connect its members with high-quality care through operational excellence and innovative approaches. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Science with a focus on Health Care Administration and a minor in Computer Science from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and is currently working on her Master of Business Administration at Chapman University.
