Cencora, Inc. has announced that its Board of Directors has appointed D. Mark Durcan as the new Chairman of the Board, effective October 1, 2025. Durcan will replace Steven H. Collis, who has led the board since 2016 and served as CEO from 2011 until 2024. Collis transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman starting October 1, 2024, for a one-year term as previously announced.
Robert P. Mauch, President and CEO of Cencora, expressed strong confidence in Durcan’s leadership. He highlighted Durcan’s broad experience as a public company CEO and board member, along with his expertise in strategic planning and technological innovation. Mauch added that Durcan’s role as Lead Independent Director has been vital in guiding the Board’s oversight of Cencora’s pharmaceutical-focused strategy and supporting sustainable growth.

Durcan said it is an honor to be named Chairman and to succeed Collis. He emphasized that Cencora is well positioned to deliver value to all stakeholders while playing a key role in the rapidly evolving healthcare sector. Durcan also expressed gratitude to Collis for his visionary leadership, which helped shape Cencora into a global healthcare solutions leader.
Durcan has served as Cencora’s Lead Independent Director since 2023 and has been a Board member since 2015. He is the former CEO of Micron Technology, where he worked from 1984 and led as CEO between 2012 and 2017.
Currently, Durcan serves as a director at ASML Holding NV and is a member of the Board of Trustees at Rice University. His previous board roles include Advanced Micro Devices, Freescale Semiconductor, Micron Technology, MWI Veterinary Supply before its acquisition by Cencora, St. Luke’s Health System of Idaho, and Veoneer.
