Children’s Lighthouse, the early education and child care franchise, is celebrating a milestone year in 2024. Marked by significant achievements in franchise growth, operational enhancements and industry recognition, the family-focused brand is well-positioned for accelerated expansion in 2025.
“It’s been a big year of growth all-in-all,” said Matt Kelton, vice president of franchise development for Children’s Lighthouse. “Our franchises are up 8% in overall revenue across the board, and the demand for our services continues to be at a record level. Two out of three children are in some form of child care, yet there still aren’t enough providers to meet the need.”

Over two-thirds of the nation’s children under 6 years old have both parents working, underscoring the critical need for premium child care services. The U.S. child care market size was valued at $59 billion in 2023 and is expected to surpass around $88 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 4.3% between 2024 and 2033. Children’s Lighthouse serves this demand with a proprietary STREAM-based curriculum called Lighthouse Pathways. (STREAM stands for science, technology, reading, engineering, arts and math.) Maintaining high standards of operational and educational excellence, each Children’s Lighthouse school is independently owned and operated and may have its own Cognia or other accreditation.
In 2024, Children’s Lighthouse opened three new schools, including its first location in Virginia along with two additional schools in its home state of Texas. The brand also sold eight new franchise agreements.

This year also saw new tools such as virtual classroom screening, AI-based security and operational software elevate efficiency and safety across all locations. Other initiatives this year included expanding the brand’s proprietary curriculum and integrating additional resources to enhance early learning outcomes. Investments in marketing and digital platforms have also further solidified Children’s Lighthouse as a leader in the childcare industry.
All of this momentum explains why Children’s Lighthouse climbed nearly 20 spots on the prestigious Franchise Times Top 400 list, ranking No. 292 in 2024. This recognition highlights the brand’s continued growth in both systemwide revenue and footprint. “Our ranking is a testament to the hard work of our corporate team, support staff and local franchisees,” Kelton said.

With upcoming openings and franchise opportunities in cities like Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, Nashville, Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Kansas City and Raleigh-Durham, the brand is targeting areas experiencing robust population growth.
