Milestone marks entry into Limited Market Release and builds momentum toward broader commercialization
VB Spine LLC has announced the successful completion of the first clinical procedures using its Vulcan™ Spinal System for thoracolumbar fixation, marking a key milestone in the company’s next-generation spinal implant portfolio. The achievement signals the official entry of the system into Limited Market Release and highlights continued innovation in advanced medical technology designed to improve patient outcomes in complex spine surgeries.
The first clinical case utilizing the Vulcan Spinal System was performed on February 26 at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. The procedure marked the system’s official clinical debut and demonstrated its capabilities in real-world surgical settings.

Following the initial procedure, two additional surgeons at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital successfully performed surgeries using the system within the next two days. With three procedures completed in a short time frame, the early clinical experience indicates a strong and promising start for the technology as it moves toward broader adoption.
The Vulcan Degenerative System was engineered to support improved fixation strength, surgical precision, and procedural efficiency during thoracolumbar spinal fixation procedures. Developed in collaboration with spine surgeons, the system incorporates advanced implant geometry and specialized instrumentation to support modern surgical workflows while addressing the evolving needs of spine care.
Marc Viscogliosi, co-CEO of VB Spine, emphasized the patient-centered philosophy guiding the company’s innovation. “Moments like this represent patients placing their trust in innovation, in their surgeons, and in all of us working behind the scenes. We are proud of what our team has accomplished and grateful to the surgeons who partnered with us to bring this system forward.”

The Limited Market Release phase will allow VB Spine to gather additional clinical feedback from surgeons, support training and adoption among healthcare professionals, and ensure operational readiness before the system moves into a full commercial launch. This stage is essential for validating performance, refining workflows, and strengthening the product’s real-world clinical evidence.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the Vulcan Spinal System for use in the country. The system is designed for spinal fixation procedures, providing stabilization and structural support as part of a comprehensive surgical construct used alongside spinal fusion techniques.
As healthcare systems continue adopting advanced surgical technologies, innovations like the Vulcan Spinal System reflect the growing focus on precision, efficiency, and improved patient recovery in modern spine surgery. VB Spine’s latest milestone reinforces its commitment to developing technologies that enhance clinical outcomes while supporting surgeons with next-generation tools designed for today’s operating room environments.
