Telecare operates one of Australia’s largest virtual care clinics and also offers digital solutions to the local healthcare industry. The company has developed a network of over 300 virtual specialists across more than 30 areas of expertise. These services include appointments referred by general practitioners and support for public hospitals throughout Australia. By using its virtual model, Telecare has managed to lower long wait times for patients and provide much-needed specialist care to underserved and regional communities.

Teladoc Health serves more than 100 million people worldwide and generated over $2.5 billion in revenue in 2024. With nearly 5,000 employees, its platform supports virtual care for top hospitals and health systems around the world, including institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom’s NHS, Germany’s Charité, and national healthcare systems in Canada and France.

The acquisition strengthens Teladoc Health’s presence in Australia, where it has already been providing virtual healthcare services for 15 years through partnerships with health insurers and hospitals. The company recently introduced new virtual care innovations in the Australian hospital system, such as a virtual neonatology service at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital and a telesurgery support program in collaboration with Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service.

“Teladoc Health is improving access to care globally through virtual innovation and technology,” said Carlos Nueno, President of International at Teladoc Health. “We believe joining forces with Telecare will help us advance our mission—especially for those in regional and remote areas—by combining our technological solutions and services to support one of the leading health markets around the world.”

Michael Wang, co-founder and CEO of Telecare, expressed his optimism for the future, stating, “Teladoc Health is uniquely positioned to help accelerate the impact of our mission. We are proud of what we have achieved with Telecare in the Australian health landscape and our ability to help solve access and equity issues in healthcare delivery.” He added, “We are confident that our hospital partners, patients and providers will greatly benefit from the scale and expanded capabilities that this combination will deliver.” Telecare will continue operating in Australia under its existing brand and leadership team. The acquisition was finalized on August 8, 2025. While the financial details of the transaction were not disclosed publicly, Teladoc Health noted that the deal is not expected to have a significant impact on its financial results for the year.
