Brookhart holds a professorship in the Department of Population Health Sciences at Duke University and serves as an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2017, he co-founded NoviSci to develop advanced analytic software and visualization tools for real-world evidence generation. Target RWE acquired NoviSci in 2021 to expand its capabilities in high-quality data analysis. Following Target RWE’s acquisition by Highlander Health, there is a renewed focus on investing in NoviSci’s vision, and Brookhart is central to that effort.
In his role, Brookhart will lead NoviSci in building validated analytic platforms, including causal inference software, that convert real-world data into regulatory-grade evidence. The NoviSci platform helps healthcare and life sciences organizations globally assess the safety and effectiveness of medical products while tackling the methodological challenges of real-world data.
Brad Hirsch, co-founder of Highlander Health and Target RWE board member, stated that Brookhart’s appointment reflects Highlander Health’s commitment to expanding Target RWE’s ability to deliver high-quality longitudinal healthcare data. He added that Brookhart is uniquely positioned to leverage the company’s advanced epidemiological capabilities, having played a key role in creating its foundational breakthroughs.
Brookhart is also an Honorary Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Aarhus in Denmark and has more than 200 publications in leading journals covering medicine, biostatistics, and epidemiology. He co-founded RxAnte, Inc., and served as chair of its scientific advisory board, contributing to widely used predictive analytics for clinical decision support.
Brookhart said he is excited to take on this leadership role at Target RWE and to collaborate with the team to expand the impact of the company’s analytic technology. He emphasized his goal of accelerating the quality and pace of real-world evidence generation to support better healthcare decisions today and in the future.
