“Over the past few years, we have developed a strong working relationship with St. Croix Hospice, based on our common goal of delivering caring and high-quality end-of-life care. The recent move of the MCHS Mankato hospice program to St. Croix Hospice was well-planned and focused on the needs of patients, which gives us confidence in this next step,” said Richard Helmers, M.D., vice president of MCHS Wisconsin.

Mandy Cogswell, Chief Clinical Officer at St. Croix Hospice, highlighted the enduring partnership by saying, “With over 85 locations across the Midwest, each with local care teams, St. Croix Hospice has been providing hospice care to MCHS patients for many years. The continued work between St. Croix Hospice and MCHS has been smooth for patients and their families because of our shared focus on excellent clinical care and innovation, always putting the patient’s needs first.”
This acquisition follows St. Croix Hospice’s recent purchase of the MCHS Mankato hospice program and a late 2024 acquisition of health system-based hospice services in Iowa and Nebraska. Heath Bartness, CEO of St. Croix Hospice, commented, “We are seeing more hospitals selling off their post-acute care services. We value our long referral relationship with MCHS and are happy that St. Croix Hospice was chosen to continue their tradition of quality in hospice care.” St. Croix Hospice will collaborate closely with MCHS teams to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted transition for patients into St. Croix’s care.
