Medical diagnoses rely heavily on data, and a large portion of that comes from radiology. Despite significant advancements in imaging technology, the systems used to manage images, reports, and workflows in radiology centers have not kept pace. This disconnect between cutting-edge machines and outdated software prompted the creation of Medtatvaa.

The consequences of this gap are especially clear in long-term care. Take, for instance, a patient with a slow-growing meningioma near the optic nerve. Even years after surgery, ongoing MRIs and neurological assessments are required. Each follow-up relies on access to historical scans and reports, which often means patients and families must transport CDs, paper records, and fragmented files between hospitals. Continuity of care remains manual and inefficient.

Medtatvaa was founded on a simple yet crucial insight: radiology systems are not just for storing or reporting images, they directly affect how quickly doctors can make decisions and how smoothly patients move through care. Across India, many imaging centers continue to rely on disconnected software, physical media, and manual handoffs, which causes delays and operational strain as patient volumes rise.

The founders of Medtatvaa approached this problem from different perspectives but reached the same conclusion. Sneha Samaveda, trained in business in the United States, gained experience with early-stage startups in India and exposure to healthcare ventures in New York. She saw how thoughtfully designed systems could transform complex industries and began questioning why critical parts of healthcare in India still ran on outdated infrastructure.

Supraja Srinivasan, with more than twelve years of experience developing healthcare products and technology, including work with Siemens, encountered the problem from within the industry. She understood the technical workings of radiology systems and recognized how inefficiencies in PACS, storage, and workflows slowed radiologists and technicians. The technology to improve operations existed, but it was not reaching the centers that needed it most.

When Samaveda and Srinivasan connected, their discussions quickly shifted from frustration to action. They realized that modernizing radiology systems required both deep technical knowledge and a clear understanding of how imaging centers operate at scale. Medtatvaa was founded to combine these insights and focus on practical, systemic improvements.

This vision is now coming to life with DICOMDrive, Medtatvaa’s flagship platform. The product enables imaging and scan centers to transition to cloud-native operations, securely store images, and share scans and reports digitally through WhatsApp, email, and SMS. By eliminating reliance on CDs and disconnected systems, DICOMDrive aims to reduce turnaround times and improve everyday operational efficiency.

Sneha Samaveda, Co-founder of Medtatvaa, explained, “We have digitized payments, travel, and public services, yet most healthcare records in India are still on paper. That gap cannot continue.”

To ensure the platform meets clinical needs, Medtatvaa works with a medical advisory board that includes Dr. Sowjanya Bhyri, Director of Amruta Scan Center, Hyderabad, and a leading ultrasound specialist. Her guidance helps the team design a platform that aligns with real-world radiology workflows and practitioner requirements.

Looking forward, Medtatvaa plans to evolve beyond image storage and sharing. The company aims to create a complete operating system for imaging centers, integrating scheduling, billing, reporting, imaging, and referrals into a single platform. In this future vision, referral doctors can access scans seamlessly, and patients will have a personal portal to view and manage their imaging records digitally.

As healthcare in India continues to embrace digital solutions, the founders believe this is the moment to strengthen core infrastructure rather than add superficial features. Medtatvaa’s goal is to provide radiology centers with reliable systems for the long term, demonstrating how technical leadership by women can drive impactful innovation in health technology.
