HealthTree Foundation, a global nonprofit organization that brings together scattered medical records to help speed up research on blood cancer, has announced new connections with Flatiron Health and CareSpace. Patients who are getting treatment at medical facilities using these electronic health record systems can now securely link their medical information to the HealthTree platform. These new links add to HealthTree’s network of connected healthcare systems, which already includes Epic, Cerner, and the U.S. Veterans Health Administration.

The new connections cover more than 800 facilities across the United States, making HealthTree’s total number of linked treatment centers and healthcare systems over 7,300. This growth helps patients access their full medical history in one place and gives doctors quicker and safer access to lab results, treatment details, and research chances.

By using FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) standards, HealthTree makes sure patient data is shared securely and smoothly between different systems. This allows patients and their healthcare teams to get up-to-date information in real time, join research studies, and make treatment choices based on data without facing delays or extra paperwork.

“Patients are the only ones who can gather their medical records from various systems because of legal rules,” said Jenny Ahlstrom, CEO and Founder of HealthTree. “Having one complete record lets patients play an active role in their care, allows for more personalized treatment with AI, and helps speed up the discovery of cures for blood cancer.”

With a unified medical record, patients can keep track of their lab results in one spot, explore customized treatment choices, and find out if they fit for clinical trials. They can also opt to share their anonymized data with researchers to help push forward scientific progress. The addition of Flatiron Health and CareSpace greatly boosts the reach and influence of the HealthTree platform, providing more patients with the tools to manage their care and take part in research efforts.
