Eleanor Health, a fully integrated behavioral health medical home focused on helping people dealing with substance use disorder (SUD), has now become part of the provider networks for Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth Behavioral Health. This is a big step in making evidence-based mental health and addiction treatment more widely available across the United States. The partnership will initially serve over 4.7 million insured individuals in 15 states, including Florida, Louisiana, Ohio, New Jersey, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Washington, Texas, Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Montana, Idaho, and Illinois. In these areas, about 366,000 people are currently living with substance use challenges, which shows how important it is to have comprehensive and accessible care.

William McKinney, the CEO of Eleanor Health, said this collaboration supports the organization’s mission to help individuals affected by addiction live meaningful and fulfilling lives. He explained that joining these large networks helps remove major obstacles to care, allowing more families to benefit from Eleanor Health’s whole-person treatment approach.
Unlike traditional methods that often treat symptoms in isolation, Eleanor Health focuses on building strong relationships between patients and clinicians, and creating personalized care plans. Their treatment includes medication-assisted therapy (MAT), psychiatric care, individual and group counseling, peer recovery support, and nurse-led care coordination—all part of a single, coordinated care plan.

The results are impressive. Patients remain engaged in their care for an average of 22 months, which is more than double the national average. Around 90% of patients report noticeable improvements in their mental health and substance use symptoms within the first three months.
Also, 96% of Eleanor Health members say they feel supported throughout their treatment journey. The organization’s approach, which is trauma-informed and free from stigma, shows that effective recovery is possible when care is kind, backed by research, and easy to access. By forming these in-network agreements, Eleanor Health is making it simpler for individuals and families to get quality care without facing extra costs or complicated processes, helping more people take back control of their lives.
