Dr. Palmieri has a strong background in leadership, both in Arizona and across the country. Before becoming President, she served as Vice-President and then President-Elect of AzNA, where she started bi-annual Regional Town Halls to improve communication and connection among nurses across the state. She also worked closely with the State Drug Overdose Fatality Review Team and has been an active voice in addressing Arizona’s nursing workforce issues through policy work and media engagement.

Nationally, Dr. Palmieri led the American Nurses Association’s Professional Policy Committee, shaping key policies on nurse staffing, workplace safety, and racial equity in nursing. At Alliant University, Dr. Palmieri is responsible for academic standards, program development, and faculty growth. She has held previous roles such as national dean of faculty at Chamberlain University, where she supported thousands of educators, and executive director at Southern New Hampshire University.

Her research centers on evidence-based teaching, professional development, and innovative solutions for workforce needs in nursing and healthcare. Dr. Palmieri is excited about the new role, calling it a great honor to lead AzNA while continuing her work at Alliant University. She sees this as a chance to push forward nursing education and advocacy at the same time.

Moving forward, she plans to reach out more to early-career nurses, promote inclusivity in the profession, start a Nurse Legacy Council to support mentorship, and build stronger partnerships between nursing organizations across Arizona.
