“At a time when hospitals are increasingly interested in discovering the value that AI can offer, we are wholly focused on enabling real-life solutions that enhance – and fit seamlessly – into a care team’s day-to-day experience,” said Ryan Hochworter, head of Digital Solutions for Baxter’s Connected Care Group. “Offering Pieces Inpatient Platform to our customers will support the physicians, nurses and patients we serve, and further our vision to redefine healthcare delivery through a connected care environment.”

Pieces Inpatient Platform is a complementary technology to Baxter’s existing connected care portfolio, which aims to reduce the burden on care teams by streamlining care coordination, supporting informed decision-making, and enhancing the clinician and patient experience.

The Pieces Inpatient Platform functions as a single, end-to-end partner for the multidisciplinary care team. It automatically condenses the electronic health record (EHR) into concise Working Summaries for the care team, pre-drafts updated progress notes and discharge summaries for physicians, assembles summaries of discharge readiness and barriers for case managers, and reviews encounters for level of care determination to assist utilization-management teams – all within the existing workflow.

These AI‑generated summaries, backed by Pieces SafeRead quality‑assurance technology and board‑certified physician oversight, help physicians, nurses, and case‑management teams reclaim valuable time and reduce cognitive burden without leaving the EHR.

“We’re proud to join forces with Baxter to deliver important AI solutions – like Pieces in Your Pocket and our utilization management and discharge tools – all backed by SafeRead to ensure trusted, safe innovation at every step of care,” said Ruben Amarasingham, M.D., chief executive officer and founder of Pieces.
