Lexi, a company focused on creating an AI-native communication layer for healthcare, has raised $1.4 million in an oversubscribed pre-seed round to expand its AI-driven language access platform. The funding round was led by Informed Ventures with participation from HBS Alumni Angels, Stanford Angels, Alumni Ventures, and Van Wickle Ventures. Lexi is also partnering with Lowell Community Health Center to pilot and scale its solution. In the United States, more than 30 million patients face language barriers that slow care, reduce trust, and contribute to medical errors. Co-founders Linh Pham and Siddharth UR have seen these challenges firsthand in their communities, motivating them to develop a tool that reduces friction and ensures patients are understood immediately without replacing human interpreters.

Designed to integrate seamlessly into clinical workflows, Lexi can be launched in seconds on existing healthcare systems, providing secure AI interpretation across both common and underserved languages. This reduces delays, improves patient understanding, and minimizes administrative burdens on care teams. During the pilot at Lowell Community Health Center, which began in August 2025 under the guidance of Padma Sastry and Dr. Julie Le, Lexi rapidly expanded from one department to eight. The platform has delivered over 60,000 minutes of AI interpretation, eliminated wait times for patients, enhanced privacy during sensitive visits, and reduced costs by more than 60 percent from the first day. Maria Cruz, Head of Interpreter Services, praised the platform for its reliability and accuracy, noting that downtime is nonexistent. Providers reported that they now rely exclusively on Lexi, replacing phone interpreters and saving both time and money.
