MedStar Health leaders conducted a thorough review of their current continuing medical education offerings before selecting EB Medicine. They determined that urgent care clinicians needed more than general CME materials. The fellowship program required comprehensive instruction that supports confident bedside decision making, procedural accuracy, and consistent standards of care in fast paced clinical settings. The partnership is designed to meet those expectations with structured, specialty focused education tailored specifically to urgent care practice.
Through this agreement, fellows will receive access to EB Medicine’s full suite of urgent care educational tools. The resources include peer reviewed clinical content, procedural training modules, and regularly updated guidance that reflects the latest research and best practices. The curriculum is built to address real world scenarios commonly encountered in high acuity urgent care environments.
Jasmeet Bhogal, MD, MBA, FCUCM, Medical Director at MedStar Health, explained that preparing skilled urgent care clinicians requires education grounded in solid evidence and practical application. He noted that the organization chose EB Medicine because its materials provide the depth and clinical relevance needed to help fellows strengthen judgment, refine procedural techniques, and deliver reliable, high quality care.
As part of the program, clinicians will gain access to Evidence Based Urgent Care, a regularly updated peer reviewed journal focused on current best practices. They will also complete focused training such as The Laceration Course, which reviews wound evaluation and repair techniques, and The Abscess Course, which outlines evidence based management strategies for acute presentations. Additional offerings include the Urgent Care EKG Course to enhance interpretation skills and reduce diagnostic errors, as well as the Pediatric Urgent Care Playbook covering common pediatric conditions seen in urgent care settings.
Stephanie Williford, Chief Executive Officer of EB Medicine, said that fellowship level urgent care education demands a higher standard than traditional CME programs. She shared that MedStar Health sought an academic partner capable of delivering in depth, continually refreshed clinical education that supports patient safety and professional growth. She added that the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening clinical performance in urgent care.
The EB Medicine platform is now available to MedStar Health urgent care fellows, providing on demand, accredited education that supports consistent clinical excellence across the organization.
